Thank you for your letter of October 24, 2002. I understand that you still adhere to the
belief that the Federal income tax is unconstitutional. The position of the United States
government and the federal courts is that the tax system is constitutional.
Our job at the Internal Revenue Service is to enforce the tax laws that are passed by
the Congress and signed by the President. Unless and until the Supreme Court of the
United States determines that the tax law is unconstitutional, we will continue to
administer and enforce the law.
